This weekend we are delighted to be taking part in the spectacular, bigger-than-evva COMICA Festival! We hope to see you at our table in the Great Hall at the Bishopsgate Institute this Saturday from 11am where we’ll be offering you some CRAZY COMIKET PRICES.
We’ve packed very limited supplies of The Incal, Hellraisers, Gonzo, The Lovecraft Anthology vol 1, At the Mountains of Madness, Fish + Chocolate, Black Paths and Don Quixote for sale at Amazon-style prices.
At the SelfMadeHero stand, we’ll also have the incomparable talents of JAKe and Robert Sellers who have just completed their hilarious biography of Richard Harris, Richard Burton, Peter O’Toole and Oliver Reed or in other words: Hellraisers. JAKe will be performing live in the Drawing Parade at noon and then signing with Sellers at the SelfMadeHero table from 1.30pm until 3pm. They will regale you with tawdry drinking stories if you ask nicely.
We have another superb SelfMadeHero creator lined up for all your chatting and signing needs too. At the SelfMadeHero Comiket table will be Frederik Peeters: the European graphic novel superstar and author of the incredible, autobiographical graphic novel Blue Pills that was first published in 2011 by Atrabile in Switzerland and was recently listed as one of Paul Gravett’s 1001 Comics You Must Read Before You Die.
Peeters will be dedicating copies of his latest graphic novel, the critically-acclaimed Sandcastle on the SelfMadeHero from 11am – 12.30pm and again between 4pm and 5.30pm.
In the middle of the day at Comiket you can catch Peeters on the big screen as he takes part in the Drawing Parade between 1pm and 1.30pm.
If you’ve not heard of Sandcastle yet, you can read brilliant reviews of it on the Forbidden Planet International blog here and in the latest issue of SFX.
The only chance to hear Frederik speak about his past and future work in detail, will be this Friday night at Gosh! Comics on Berwick when he’ll be in conversation with COMICA Director, Paul Gravett. Make sure you get a free beer and a seat by arriving at 6.30pm sharp as it will be busy.
He’ll be dedicating copies of Sandcastle before and after the talk at Gosh! and full details can of the Gosh! event can be found here.
Below you can see the art print that was design by Peeters for the UK launch and is available at Gosh! and during COMICA Comiket.
And finally, a reminder that some of the UK’s excellent independent comic stores up and down the country stock Sandcastle. If you live abroad or in space, you may purchase it online.
