To Notting Hill for the launch of the Popeye Cookbook, some spinach-y treats from the author Josephine Bacon and some fun and frolics with Popeye and his lady, Miss Olive Oyl.

But a huge thank you all who persevered in the face of the quadruple tube line signal failure that stuck west London yesterday evening – we hope you felt amply rewarded with spinach-based tastings and ginger cake washed down with raspberry-rose coolers and mind-bendingly strong rum and ginger cocktails.
It has to be said that Popeye’s ‘Spinach a la mode’ was an acquired taste, but it had to be tried to be believed.

The Popeye Cookbook is officially on general sale and not just in comic and bookshops from Norwich to Totnes, but also in WHSmiths the length of the land.
Or, you may prefer to use Wimpy’s moocher line “I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday, for a Popeye Cookbook today” with Amazon, but I don’t think you’ll get very far.
