We are delighted to announce that SelfMadeHero will present a spectacular event at this year’s Times Cheltenham Literary Festival.
In an event to top their own Valentine’s Day launch in London, Kiki’s creators, Catel and Bocquet, will host a magnificent candlelit supper, burlesque show and Dr Sketchy’s drawing class in the sumptuous surroundings of the Cheltenham’s vintage Spiegeltent on October 10th.
Tickets are not yet on sale, so treat this as advance notice that they’ll go quickly! The event reference that you’ll need to quote is “L145 Kiki de Montparnasse at Spiegeltent Bistro“.
The programmers have crammed the event description into a Twitter-ine blurb, as follows:
Join Jose-Luis Bocquet and Catel, authors of the stunning graphic novel based on the life of the beautiful Kiki de Montparnasse, painter, actress, nightclub singer and muse to Man Ray, for an evening of delicious food, burlesque dancing and an extraordinary art lesson courtesy of London- based Dr Sketchy, hosted by the inimitable Ophelia Bitz.
Copies of Kiki will be on sale from the festival bookseller, but if you already have a copy of Kiki then do ask Catel and Bocquet if they have time to dedicate it for you with a lovely little sketch of Kiki herself. Jose-Luis usually helps out with the dedication by adding rouge to Kiki’s lips in Catel’s sketches. C’est magnifique!
You can add the event to your Cheltenham wishlist here.
If you can’t make it to Cheltenham this year, then you could always enjoy a bit Kiki in the privacy of your own home.
