We went to help out our friends from Promethean earlier this month. Promethean make interactive whiteboards for schools as well as lots of innovative gadgets to go with them. They were exhibiting at BETT (the big, annual education technology show held at Earl’s Court, London) so we brought along Sonia Leong (artist on Romeo & Juliet) to demonstrate how teachers can use manga to teach Shakespeare in the classroom.

The guy with his back to the camera, watching Sonia sketch, is Promethean’s CEO and extra brownie points for anyone who recognized the characters to the left of the board as ‘Hero’ from Emma Vieceli’s Much Ado About Nothing and Sonia’s eponymous hero, ‘Romeo’.

There’s video of Sonia’s presentations working it’s way to us so I’ll post that up.

In the meantime, if you are a teacher and want to get hold of our ‘top tips’ for using Manga Shakespeare in the classroom or you’d just like some of the free image resource packs for use your interactive whiteboard, then the best place to go is:
